The medium of instruction is English. All lectures, practical sessions, labs, and examinations are conducted entirely in English. Russian language is also taught as a compulsory subject in the initial years to help students interact with patients during clinical postings.

BSMU has one intake per year — the September session. Applications open from April onwards every year.
Students must have a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 12th standard (45% for SC/ST/OBC). NEET qualification is mandatory. Minimum age is 17 years by 31st December of the application year.
BSMU is affiliated with 11 major clinical hospitals in Minsk. Clinical rotations begin from the 3rd year and students get comprehensive exposure across medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and all major specialties under supervision of experienced faculty.
